Upcoming on my blog: Queer Movie Friday | I need your ideas!

I have a little announcement! I came up with a new idea for a series of posts, and I’m calling it Queer Movie Friday. Basically, every Friday I review an LGBT+ themed movie here on my blog.

Now, I would love for you guys to suggest some movies. I already have a very long to-watch list, but I would be happy to add more to it. Do you have any favourites you think I should check out? Or maybe there’s a movie you absolutely hate and you’d like a second opinion?

I also want to encourage you guys to participate if you feel like it – you can write your own Queer Movie Friday reviews and we can discuss the movies together. I would love that!

I hope you guys are as excited about this as I am. I know this is mostly a book blog, but I came up with this idea and I couldn’t ignore it – it sounded like too much fun.

Don’t forget to let me know what you think and suggest some movies in the comments below!

‘Till next time and happy reading!

  1. One was recommended to me very recently called Clapham Junction. I haven’t watched it yet, but it’s supposed to great. Very honest and dark, though. Deals with stereotypes, men who are “DL,” gay men who are married, and other interesting facets of gay men’s lives. It’s labeled as pornographic for some reason, even though it is a legitimate film, not porn lol. But since you watch Queer as Folk, I don’t think you would mind!

  2. I’ve been thinking about movies I’d recommend, and hadn’t really thought of anything other than But I’m a Cheerleader. I’ve seen Lost & Delirious a couple times, but it’s not a movie I’d really recommend, for reasons I can explain if you don’t mind spoilers.

Then, last night, as I was staring at my ceiling instead of sleeping (like I do), I remembered Carol. I bet it’s already on your list, since it came out so recently and has such big-name actresses in it, but I wanted to recommend it anyway. 🙂

      1. It falls smack into the Bury Your Gays trope, which I found deeply moving when I was younger (not having much exposure to it), but now I’m 100% done with. Ugh. But if you’re open to those types of movies too, perhaps you can give it a watch. I’d be interested to hear a critique of it!

Awesome, glad to be of help! 🙂
